Project
La Riante Colline
This 42 m² apartment in Megève had barely changed since the 1950s. The idea was to make it more comfortable and practical, while keeping the feeling of a little Alpine cabin.
We redesigned the layout to make the most of every centimetre. Originally designed for four people, we added an extra bed beneath the sofa, so it could sleep five. There’s plenty of built-in storage, a comfortable kitchen with a high table and bench, and a large bathroom where we replaced the bath with a generous shower.
We also changed the windows to improve insulation and covered the ceilings, walls and floors in wood. Dark stone, dark old wood, linen curtains, wool blankets and cushions give the apartment a warm, cosy feel. I like mixing these natural materials with more contemporary pieces, such as Artemide lamps, alongside made-to-measure beds and wardrobes.
Despite its small size, the apartment now feels like a proper little home in the mountains: comfortable, practical and made to last.
